So we made it to Jeffery’s Bay, South Africa! We have been here for 2 weeks now and what a time it has been. From jet lag, to playing with the sweetest kids, to falling through the fire pole hole, to long walks on the beach, to learning how to speak africans, to being quarantined, Africa has taught me so much. Ever since we got here seeing the hand of God in this town has been so amazing.

Before we had left Guatemala I started asking the Lord to show me His heart and to break mine for what breaks His. When they told us that our ministry was going to be working at a school, they were very quick to let us know to only take our water, lunch and leave everything else at the base. Other than that they didn’t give us much more insight to what we would be doing. I was excited to see what the Lord had in store for this season and what He would bring but also knowing that it could be very difficult.

When we first arrived there were kids everywhere, so full of joy and laughter and so ready to receive us. The overflowing love that these kids show with no reservations is such a testimony. I started to get excited and like wow maybe this won’t be as hard as I thought it would be. I just get to hangout and love on these kids. While that’s still true, and I absolutely love these kids. The more I get to know them and they become real humans not just faces, the more my heart breaks to hear their stories and all that they have gone through at such a young age. All of these children were blessed with a sponsor to be able to come to school because their family could not afford to send them to a school. Many of them only have a mom or dad because the other one is not present or has passed away. Not to mention the malnourishment that will always follow them.

Why is it that by the worlds standards we as Americans are the most “blessed”, but in reality many go their whole life without ever really knowing pure joy. Yet these kids who have “nothing”, actually have the most blessings and have the most joy through Jesus Christ. Why do so often we wait for others to love us instead of running head first and loving them and treating them as if we have been best friends our whole life.

I am so grateful to the Lord for allowing me to have this opportunity to experience His heart and His love in some many ways. I pray that I never lose site of what this life is actually about and how meaningless all that I say and do is if He is not in the center of it all.

I hope y’all have a great week and enjoy your cold weather while I enjoy my nice warm sunshine 🙂 love y’all!
